ABOUT THIS PIECE: Doesn't this make you happy?? I just adore this painting. It is actually a lot richer visually than you can see from these scans. There are many subtle shifts in the blue from warmer teal shades to cooler purple-y shades. I am sorry I could not adequately capture those rich colors with my scanner. It has something to do with the chemical make-up of the predominate blue pigment. I quit using cobalt paints for just this reason, but apparently chromium blues have the same issue. Anyway, this is a bold, captivating piece in person. Delicious! Hopefully you get a least a taste in these digital images. This painting features the striking simplicity of minimalist and color-field paintings and the joy of pop art. With some nice painterly brushwork, too. What fun! By the way, this began as one of my Rorschach series paintings but it just kept getting more and more french-fry-ish until I decided it had to be titled French Fries and that meant it could not be part of that group. I was also thinking it was too blatant to be a Rorschach piece because who could see anything here but fries? Then Mike walked into the room glanced at the finished canvas for a milli-second and said, "It's a turkey!" So I guess it could have been a Rorschach after all. HOW IT WAS MADE: This is purely a brush painting.
(The deep staple-free sides have been painted so you can display your new artwork unframed. This is a digital photo, the scans above are more accurate.)
DISPLAY OPTIONS: This piece could be easily and affordably framed as it requires no matting or glass. Or it would also display nicely on the wall just as it is, no framing needed. The image continues around the staple-free sides for a clean finished look.
