I have painted many heart pieces over the years and this one definitely stands out.  In a room full of art, this piece feels like a bright spot of truth.  It is such a bold, fun, interesting piece.  Filled with luscious colors and unexpected textures.  And it has a sentiment that makes me smile.  The words in this painting read, "We are each flawed."  It is part of the grand design.  All living things are flawed and challenged.  And it took a surprising amount of conscious effort on my part to allow these hearts to appear in their own flawed ways.  I am used to attending to the tiniest of details and making sure my lines are ultra-clean and crisp. In this case, I allowed smudges to stay.  And the result is a beautiful organic feeling.  There is a tenderness to these little red hearts.

I am hopeful this unusual little abstract painting will bring smiles and compassion to the home or office of some other admittedly flawed heart out there.

How Flawed was created.....   This piece has brush painting, finger-painting and sponge painting as well as "engraving" with dental tools and blotting with a soft cloth.  I finished the painting with some fine bold linework using teeny tiny detail brushes.

Flawed was painted on a wooden board created specifically for use by artists. It has a recessed slot in the back allowing you to hang it flush with the wall. The sides of the board have been painted as well so that this piece would look wonderful displayed unframed either directly on the wall or on a small, decorative table-top easel.  *** This piece also sits nicely on a small plastic display stand.  I will include a display stand for free with your order if you request one at the time of payment.

We are each flawed.
