The writer George Eliot is credited with a wonderful quote that I displayed in my studio for many years. She said, "It’s never too late to become what you might have been." History if full of stories about late bloomers. Folks who needed time to find their bearings before taking to the skies. Inventors, artists, writers, and others. Some of us live regular lives and do regular things until we are ready to do the extraordinary stuff we were born to do. And then, if we are lucky, we choose freedom. And we let go of what is comfortable. And we explode with creativity and vitality and imagination! The words in Fly read: "You still have time. Make it happen!" This is a pretty, open, straight-forward painting. Filled with lush organic colors. I am hopeful it will inspire and amuse some fellow late-bloomer out there. How this original painting was created... Fly is a traditional brush painting. There are many layers of color built up over time. The fine details were created with an 18/0 spotter brush. Fly was painted on a professional quality gallery-wrapped canvas with deep 1.5" sides. This piece would look wonderful displayed unframed directly on the wall. Or it can be shown on a small decorative easel. Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it required no matting or glass.
