Freaking Out

Completed in 2007

9" x 12" x 1.5"

Acrylic on deep gallery-stretched canvas

(Enlarged to show details.  The lines of this piece are all raised 3-dimensional ridges.)

ABOUT THIS PIECE:  I love this bird!  I have done a lot of freaking out in my lifetime and this bird makes me very happy.  I like having him around me.  As a reminder of how silly it is to freak out.  Nothing sobers a drama-queen up faster than seeing another drama queen in full freak-out-mode.

On top of my joy in his expression, I also REALLY like the composition in this one and those gorgeous bold colors.  This painting was fun to create and I am thrilled it found me.  Now I hope it finds a good home with one of my fellow chicken-little friends out there.

HOW IT WAS MADE:  I used my fingers to push paint into wonderfully natural, irregular ridges that form the lines of this image.  Once those lines dried, I used my fingers and brushes to layer color and build up this crazy blue-eyed bird.

(The staple-free sides have been painted so you can display your new artwork unframed.  This is a digital photo, the scans above are more accurate.)

DISPLAY OPTIONS:  This piece could be easily and affordably framed as it requires no matting or glass.  Or it would also display nicely on the wall just as it is, no framing needed.  The image continues around the staple-free sides for a clean finished look.
