This piece is a really big deal for me.  First, I have not worked this large in nearly a decade.  Most of my work measures 5" x 7"-ish.  So this piece involved a huge commitment.  Second, I have not worked abstractly in a very long time, so that, too, pushed me to take some risks.  And third, this piece is step closer to what I have been seeking in my recent paintings that involve subtle words and phrases.  This is a hopeful, spiritual painting that would bring a soothing, peaceful presence to any room.  There are layers and layers of subtle shades, lovely lines, fun textures, and interesting words.  Some words are painted, some are "engraved" in the painting with a dental tool.  Almost all are hidden.  You have to look closely to discover them.  The only complete phrase that can be seen clearly is the sentence, "You were born forgiven."    Other words that can be found include, "Practice.  Believe.  Protect.  Accept.  Permission.  Give.  Try.  Fail.  Listen.  And Now."
