Every living thing must give and also must take.  In order to survive.  That is how it works.  We are all interdependent.  But some of us forget that.  Some of us only like to give.  Others only like to take.  And no one benefits when the equation gets too lopsided.  The thing to remember is that giving and taking are equally necessary.  Equally important.  Both of the flowers in this image are equally lovely and vibrant.  They look very similar.  Because those of us who give too much and those of us who take too much, we are really very similar.  And there is nothing to be gained from pointing fingers.  We need to find a balance together.

The word "Give" appears beneath one flower image and the word "Take" appears under the other flower.  The words, "Everything is necessary" appear in small letters at the top of the canvas.

I am hopeful this lush natural painting will brighten your home and help you remember to give and to take in turn.

How Give and Take was created...  I used palette knives and wide soft brushes to create the rich expressionist painting behind the "windows".  And I used tiny 18/0 spotter brushes to paint that beautiful flower scenes and the important fluid lines and the words.

(The image continues around the staple-free sides so you can display your new artwork unframed.  This is a digital photo, the scans above are more accurate.)

Give and Take was painted on a large 8" x 16" gallery-wrapped canvas with .75" staple-free sides.  This piece would look wonderful displayed unframed directly on the wall.  Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it required no matting or glass.

Give.  Take.

Everything is necessary.
