Hidden Feelings

This is a strange piece. In so many ways. It is just odd. It makes me a little uncomfortable. I thought about not listing it for sale and then I thought maybe it will really speak to someone out there. And I have SO MUCH work into this. So here it is.

The word "Love" was scratched into the oil pastel in each of the shapes within the heart. You have to pay attention to see the love, though. It is subtle.

Please note: This is not a precise piece with crisp clean edges. It is a busy messy complicated kind of a thing.

How Hidden Feelings was created..... First, I used artists markers filled with colored India ink to create a very elaborate geometric abstract drawing filled with every color in the rainbow. Then I used lavender oil pastels on top of that ink to unify the area that would become the heart. And I used golden oil pastels to unify everything outside of the heart. I did not just color in the large areas, I colored in each tiny shape separately. Allowing the edges of each shape to show through, allowing bits of the vibrant ink drawing to peak out here and there. Finally, I used a dental tool to scratch an outline around the heart shape. And to scratch the word LOVE into each shape within the heart.

Hidden Feelings was drawn on acid-free white mat board. You will want to frame this unusual piece to protect your investment. One affordable way to frame this unique drawing would be to purchase a standard-sized frame at your local home store and then bring the frame and the artwork together to a custom-framer. Ask the framer to mat the art to fit the frame.
