ABOUT THIS PIECE: All storytellers live in the hot seat. Because stories will not work if they are not genuine. And being genuine all the time is hard. And scary. I am sure you know what I mean. HOW IT WAS MADE: This is a traditional brush painting. In some ways, I am returning to my roots with this painting. A million years ago, when I first began training as an artist, all of my energy was focused on line quality. I created many pieces with crisp flowing black lines like these. There is something calming for me in the simplicity of an outline. Even though creating images in this manner can be much more challenging then filling in forms with color and light. This kind of work requires a level of clarity and focus that can be hard for me to maintain. Also, this piece shows my new interest in layering conscious images over intuitive painting. DISPLAY OPTIONS: This piece could be easily and affordably framed as it requires no matting or glass. Or it would also display nicely sitting on a small decorative easel or stand just as it is, no framing needed.
