MY REACTION:  This series is of enormous importance to me both personally and professionally.  These pieces were commissioned by a small chain of hospices and will grace their main office.  The images came to me as I contemplated both the needs of folks facing their greatest time of transition as well as the employees who help the dying and their families through the challenges that lie between this time and what comes next.  I put more of my heart into these paintings than I have ever shared in my work before.  Perhaps because I, too, am in a time of tremendous change and I am letting go of one life to begin another.  These pieces bring me immense comfort and hope.  They inspire me to look beyond the obvious and find the magic that ALWAYS sizzles just beneath.  These are bold vibrant expressive paintings.  Wild colors.  Gorgeous organic lines.  I consider these piece pivotal works in the unfolding of my own personal vision.  They mark a level of faith in the process, faith in my abilities, that has always eluded me until now.

CONTENT:  This series is titled In Motion as a reminder that ALL energy is in flux.  There is no example in Nature or science of energy simply disappearing.  Poof!  Energy changes forms.  I do not know what comes after this life.  But I know with absolute conviction that there is more.  And even if you do not believe there is more, it bears noting that so long as you are conscious and not yet passed on, then you are still in motion.  Our spirits live to grow.  And it is my hope that these paintings will inspire thoughts and dreams and moments of comfort, too.

Here are all four pieces from this series....

ARTISTIC CONCERNS:  I worked on these canvases for weeks.  They have many many layers of expressive painting.  Knife work, brush work, even some finger-painting.  The primary word in each piece was also "etched" into the surface with a dental tool for emphasis.
