Title:  (In Motion) Grace

Completed in:  2008

Size:  4" x 5"

Materials:  Acrylic on gallery stretched canvas

The words read:  A Greater Power sees me.  (Grace.)

(Enlarged to show details.)

(The painting continues around the staple-free sides.  This is a digital photo.  The scans above are more accurate.)

MY REACTION This is a lush, layered painting with dense color.  Unexpected color.  It is surprisingly engaging for a small piece.

CONTENT:  Grace.  I am not sure it has to be some specific act.  I think just knowing, deep down knowing, that there is a Higher Power at work in the world and that each one of us figures in that power.  That knowing is in itself a state of grace.

This is from the In Motion series.

ARTISTIC CONCERNS:  This is primarily a knife painting.  I used tiny detail brushes to paint the flower and the words.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:  This piece is on a gallery stretched canvas.  The painting continues around the staple-free sides.  It can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no matting or glass.  This one also shows well on the wall as it is, unframed.  Or it can be shown on a small display stand.
