MY REACTION:  This is an unusual piece.  It startles me a little.  That vivid splattery red.  It is just a teensy bit scary.  But satisfying, too.  Necessary.  Like surgery.

CONTENT:  Disasters happen.  Failure happens.  Pain happens.  Loss happens.  Humiliation happens.  Defeat happens.  Blood is a part of life.  Struggle and suffering are a part of life.  A necessary part.  But only a part.  Growth allows us to digest pain and turn it into courage.  To absorb loss and turn it into gratitude.  Growth.  That illusive magic fairy dust.  A combination of humility - being willing to admit that I NEEDED the thing I did not want - and ambition.  Aiming higher and working to fix whatever broken parts cause me to stumble.

ARTISTIC CONCERNS:  This is primarily a knife painting.  I used tiny detail brushes to paint the hearts and the words.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:  This piece is on a deep gallery stretched canvas.  The painting continues around the staple-free sides.  It can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no matting or glass.  This one also shows well on the wall as it is, unframed.  Or it can be shown on a small display stand.
