MY REACTION: This is a lush vibrant piece. With layers and layers of wild color. Very exciting. There is a nice contrast between the energetic color and the peaceful sweet bat. CONTENT: Insight. Seeing anew. Deeply. It takes courage to open yourself to new perspectives. To look beyond the obvious and seek a more complete understanding. Insight can be liberating, but ignorance feels safer, certainly easier. Bats often appear in Native lore as a symbol of rebirth and renewal. And rebirth, a new chance is what insight offers those courageous folks who stay open and keep looking. Don't be afraid. To know more, to see more, to understand more deeply. This is from the In Motion series. ARTISTIC CONCERNS: This is a knife painting with many layers of color. Then I used brushes to add the words and create the gentle bat. WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW: This piece is on a deep gallery stretched canvas with staple-free sides. (In Motion) Insight would display nicely unframed either directly on the wall or on a small display easel. If you prefer a frame, this piece could be easily and affordably framed as it requires no matting or glass.
