This series began as four commissioned pieces for a small chain of hospices in Illinois.  I created a few specific images and words for those folks, but the idea of a significant body of work that nourishes the soul ran through me and now it is all I can see.  We are not dead yet.  So long as we draw breathe, we are still in motion.  Growing, maybe.  Experiencing.  Alive.  And the paintings in this series are my attempt to capture the better moments.  The powers that keep us in motion.  The rewards for all that hard work.

Words and images are powerful emotional forces.  And too many of the words and images that repeat throughout our modern lives are damaging.  News about crime, violence, fraud.  Advertisements reminding us of our flaws.  The words and images in these paintings are invigorating, nourishing, challenging and inspirational.  Good to have around you.  Good for the spirit.
