Title: (In Motion) Soul Completed in: 2008 Size: 18" x 36" x 1.5" Materials: Acrylic on deep gallery stretched canvas The words read: Fierce. Soul. |

(Enlarged to show details. The word, "Soul", was etched into the surface with a dental tool and retraced after each new layer of paint.)

(This is a digital photo, the scans above more accurately capture the details of this piece. The staple-free sides of this piece are unfinished and raw. The are coated in black gesso and show some smudges of paint to hint at the layers of color that went into this piece. I prefer to leave them this way, but will finish them with black paint if you prefer.)

MY REACTION: Wow. That is the only reaction I have for this one. Hopefully at least some of the power of this piece comes through in these scans? It is undoubtedly more impressive in person. CONTENT: This is possibly the most powerful piece I have ever painted. Bold. Arresting. Expressive. Passionate. I hope this piece fills viewers with energy and mystery and possibility. This is from the In Motion series. ARTISTIC CONCERNS: This is a brush and knife painting and I used a dental tool on this one, too. This piece is on a heavy duty hand-stretched canvas and would look lovely displayed as it is unframed.
