This piece is so lovely in person! I am disappointed that I
could not capture the textures of this painting with my scanner.
The little red heart is actually three-dimensional and is raised
from the surface of the canvas. As are the bright blue areas
on each side. Kindness is a beautiful bold minimalist abstract
filled with dancing color. Soothing color. I am hopeful
it will help some fellow wanderer out there to remember that
kindness is enough to make life worthwhile. Kindness feeds our
hearts. How this unique piece was created..... Once the black gesso primer dried, I used a palette knife to apply a very thin layer of fine artist-grade ceramic stucco to a stripe along both sides of the canvas. Then I used dental tools to apply stucco in the shape of a heart and to keep the edges of that heart sharp and crisp. It is raised from the surface about the thickness of a nickel. Once the stucco dried, I used brushes to paint the glowing vibrant abstract behind the heart. And I used tiny detail brushes to paint the heart itself and to add the word "kindness" which was painted first in warm yellow and then in black. Kindness was painted on a rigid canvas panel. The image continues around the edges, so this piece looks lovely displayed just as it is on a small stand or decorative easel. Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no glass or matting.
