This is a really lovely piece to see in person. The colors
just glow. For my landscapes, I often create an underpainting
that contains contrasting colors to the finished image, but usually
that underpainting gets entirely covered up. In this case, I
allowed teeny bits of the underpainting to show through and I just
love the results! This is one of the most exciting tree pieces
I have done in quite a while. The words in this piece read, "I know what I need." All natural living things know what they need. But people allow their brains to trick them into disregarding what their hearts know to be true. We confuse ourselves and get so turned around we have no idea who we are. It is hard to be human! But the good news is that there are easy and free remedies to all that confusion. Spend a day in nature. Sit quietly in the sun. Listen to the leaves. Remember yourself as a natural animal and you will undoubtedly realize that you do in fact know exactly what you need. I am hopeful this warm sunny landscape will bring a bit of serenity and comfort to your home or office. How Knowledge was created..... After the black acrylic gesso dried, I used palette knives to create a bold expressionist underpainting filled with bright yellows and oranges and reds. One that richly textured layer dried, I used knives and brushes to layer blues and greens and create the peaceful landscape scene. Finally, I used tiny detail brushes to paint the lines and highlights and words. Knowledge was painted on a rigid canvas panel. The edges of the panel have been painted, so this piece looks lovely displayed just as it is on a small stand or decorative easel. Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no glass or matting.
