MY REACTION: This painting was a journey. Filled with trials and dead-ends and triumphs and finally an amazing destination. I cannot describe what I went through in the creation of this image. But I can tell you it changed me as a person and as an artist. CONTENT: Innocence. New life. Purity. Our love for and devotion to the newest souls among us is a gift. A chance for more. We are redeemed by this sweetness. The losses and disillusionment of our own youthful mistakes. The injustices visited upon us as children. All those questions fall away when we accept the responsibility of raising the next generation. Affording them a chance to shine and live better, dream bigger. Affording them the chance to reinvent this difficult world. ARTISTIC CONCERNS: Oh my was this a challenge. I never thought I could realize this image. I cannot count the number of times I put it aside and ALMOST gave up. But this little baby girl was determined to meet you all. She found her way here. This piece has knife painting, brush painting, and finger painting. I used acrylic modeling paste and glass bead texturing gel to add rich organic textures. I also used dental tools to scratch in lines for emphasis. WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW: This painting is on a gallery stretched canvas. The image continues around the staple-free sides. It can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no matting or glass. It could also be displayed unframed on a small display easel. This one also shows well on the wall as it is, unframed.
