This is an unusual piece for me. I allowed the words to play a more prominent role in the composition of the image. I will be curious to see what you all think of it. It is also unusual because I typically create art with messages for others. This one is a message I very much need to hear in my own life right now. Why is it SO HARD to let go?! I just love the myth of control. I love to pretend I am in charge even when that pretense causes me unlimited grief. It is craziness! But it is my nature. Let go! Let go! Let go! I am hopeful this warm expressive abstract will give some fellow recovering-control-freak permission to rest and to trust. How Let Go was created..... This is primarily a traditional brush painting, though I did use a dental tool to "engrave" a few lines here and there. I built up this abstract composition with layers of color and loose lines, then I used a teeny 18/0 detail brush to paint key details and to add the words. THe heart was engraved in the surface and then painted. Let Go was painted on a rigid canvas panel. The edges of the panel have been painted, so this piece looks lovely displayed just as it is on a small stand or decorative easel. Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no glass or matting. ***NOTE: I can include a new plastic stand with your order at no charge if you request one at the time of payment.
