ABOUT THIS PIECE: I am so surprised by this painting. I thought it was going to be something else entirely. I had no idea it would wind up being so sensual and so feminine. How lovely. This is a beautiful moving piece. It inspires me. And it makes me more comfortable in my skin somehow. This unexpected painting makes me glad I am a woman. HOW IT WAS MADE: I used palette knives to create the soft expressive abstract painting behind the floating woman. That painting evolved over many layers. Then I used tiny 20/0 detail brushes to bring the lady to life and to add her shadow. Originally, I painted her with all appropriate interior lines. Meaning lines that defined her features and each leg and various contours. I knew it needed to be a silhouette. That the piece would be more powerful as a symbol instead of an actual woman. But I was proud of the lines I had made and it was hard for me to paint over them. To fill her in. It feels like a sign of artistic maturity to me that I could put my ego aside and do what was right for the piece. This piece shows my new interest in layering conscious images over intuitive painting. DISPLAY OPTIONS: This piece could be easily and affordably framed as it requires no matting or glass. Or it would also display nicely sitting on a small decorative easel or stand just as it is, no framing needed.
