ABOUT THIS PIECE I have long admired self-taught artists for the freedom of their expressions.  The energy I see in their work.  The exuberance and lack of inhibition.  I have been working towards that aim for some time now and I think the recent painting I completed title Dreaming Trees was a step closer to how I want to express myself as an artist.  I appreciate my education, but I want to get past it.  To get back to the pure joy I felt as a child when I had new art supplies and time to myself.  This simple little drawing is a step in that direction for me.

I am surprised by this piece.  By how much I like it.  By the way the layered colors work.  By how it seems a lot bigger than it is.  This could have been a Tiny Art piece, but it does not feel like Tiny Art to me, so it is here.

This is a soft image.  Peaceful.  Childlike.  Maybe it is a memory?

This one will frame up beautifully!  Give it a wide white mat and a simple slim soft colored wood frame.  It will be lovely.

HOW IT WAS MADE:  I have been working in oil pastels for many years now and have learned different techniques for layering colors.  Each piece takes hand cramping concentration and lots of elbow grease, but I absolutely love the results.  Oil pastels are one of my favorite media to work in.

DISPLAY OPTIONS:  This image was created on white acid-free mat board.  It is sprayed with fixative, but the surface is still very fragile.  You will want to frame your new drawing to protect your investment.  To frame your artwork affordably, you can buy a ready-made frame at your local home or discount store and then bring the frame with the drawing to a custom-framer.  The framer can mat the piece to fit the frame.
