This painting has been a long time coming.  I visited Mexico about eight years ago.  It was a wonderful experience.  I was lucky enough to stay in a small town in the mountains where few tourists go.  And I fell in love with the colors of Mexico.  The way many folks decorated their homes and the walls around town.  Where you could see layers of color from times past.  History rubbing through.  It was so exciting!

I also felt like the folks in this town lived closer to God.  Their spirituality seemed to be a part of everyday life and folks seemed full.  Content.  At peace.  Love ran deep there.

I am hopeful this bright lively image might bring the warmth and history and love of Mexico to the walls of your own home or office.

How Mexico was created...  I used palette knives and a dry cloth and dental tools to apply and then scrape and rub and scratch through many many layers of paint.  Then I used a variety of brushes to pull this whole image together.

(The staple-free sides have been painted so you can display your new artwork unframed.  This is a digital photo, the scans above and below are more accurate.)

Mexico was painted on a large 12" x 16" gallery-wrapped canvas with .75" staple-free sides.  This piece would look wonderful displayed unframed directly on the wall.  Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it required no matting or glass.

Love.
