When the wind blows, leaves fly about and trees bend and the world shifts a little to accommodate that powerful force of nature.  Why do we humans have such trouble accepting the forces that move us about?  Why do we fight, fight, fight our instincts and pretend all the time that our intellects should be the only forces to shape our unfolding lives?  We are all leaves in the wind and the best way to move through this complicated and confusing place is to fly free and enjoy the exhilarating ride!  The words in this piece read, "Respect the powers that move you."  Every impulse you have is leading you somewhere on purpose.  Everything happens for a reason.  Stop wasting time labeling some experiences as "good" and some as "bad" and trying to steer a course around the "obstacles".  Start accepting what is, embracing EVERY opportunity, and trusting the powers that be.

I am hopeful this fun colorful burst of natural light will bring warmth and serenity to your home or office.

How Movement was created..... This piece has lots of exciting stuff going on. The underpainting was all done with palette knives creating some great organic textures and lots of movement. And then I used wide brushes and a soft cloth to apply several layers of transparent washes. Finally I used tiny detail brushes to paint the lovely tree and the leaves and the words.

The black line that separates the land from the sky is actually a groove or split in the wood. It is kind of a neat affect.

Movement was painted on a rough wooden board primed with black gesso.  There is a saw-tooth hanger on the back of this piece so that you can display it unframed if you like. The image continues around the sides of the board.
