MY REACTION This is an update or new take on an image I made years ago called My Story.  It is a simpler cleaner more graphic version.  With words.  I think this one will frame up beautifully and make a nice bright bold addition to any room.

CONTENT:  There is a movie out now called Bella.  In it, there is a line that says, "If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans."  I am certain our stories are already written.  And that they make sense.  That our lives will all make sense in the end.  In hindsight.  This lovely image is a reminder that we do not have to struggle so hard all the time to author our own tales.  We might just sit back some times and enjoy the story as it unfolds of its own accord, you know?

ARTISTIC CONCERNS:  In these newer works, I am trying hard to allow the creative process to evolve openly and without intellectual correction.  I am interested in the evolution of graphite sketch to loose gouache painting to a thin layer of acrylic detailing to that fine finished black ink line.  My hope is that you the viewer might feel the same bewildering sense of connection to the art that I do.  That sense of something lovely evolving from something rough and smeary.  Rather than the hyper-perfect kind of art that looks manufactured, you know?  These new pieces are meant to be more personal.  More human.  Maybe a bit fragile.  Certainly more emotional.  I am trying to deliver these new images straight from my heart to you.  Without allowing my critical brain to squash the flawed spirit of the art.
