I
am having so much fun with these! This colorful little gem is
part of an ongoing series of small 4" x 4" paintings. The
series features beautifully colored abstract paintings each with a
single word and a small symbolic image. Every piece depicts
something I consider to be a necessity for folks seeking a balanced
and peaceful existence. Trees stand guard over generations of busy rushing humans. They patiently push their roots earthward and hold tight through all kinds of weather and infestations and calamities. And they remind us to hold on. To wait for the morning light. This too shall pass. I am hopeful this bright little painting will bring a splash of color to your walls and will act as a gentle reminder to slow down and breathe. How Necessities (Patience) was created... This is a traditional brush painting. There are many layers of color built up over time. I did use a dental tool to scratch in accent lines on a few of these pieces. The fine details were created with an 18/0 spotter brush. Necessities (Patience) was painted on a gallery-wrapped canvas with .75" staple-free sides. This piece would look wonderful displayed unframed directly on the wall or sitting on a small display stand. Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it required no matting or glass. Please note: These tiny canvases are not always a perfect square and may not be stable sitting on edge.
