Title:  New Day

Completed in:  2008

Size:  8" x 10"

Materials:  Acrylic on gallery stretched canvas

The words read:  Hope.

(Enlarged to show details.  This piece is highly textured.  The word, "Hope", was etched into the surface with a dental tool and retraced after each new layer of paint.  The land area was built up with an acrylic and sand texturing product.)

(This is a digital photo, the scans above more accurately capture the details of this piece.  The sides of this piece are finished in washes of warm brown.)

MY REACTION:  Oh this one is exciting!  So much energy.  So much to see.  Surprising bits of color everywhere.  Varied textures.  A new day.  With all the possibilities in the world.  And that one tree standing witness.  You can almost feel that warm light.

CONTENT:  A new day is coming folks.  This is an expressive hopeful reminder to embrace today as a beginning.

ARTISTIC CONCERNS:  This is a brush and knife painting and I used some texturing products and a dental tool on this one, too.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:  This piece is on a gallery stretched canvas.  The staple-free sides are fully painted so it will show well unframed.  This piece could also be easily and affordably framed as it requires no matting or glass.

Hope.
