ABOUT THIS PIECE Poodles take their treats very seriously and they never confuse treats with toys.  I am not sure what exactly is taking place here.  I think the poodle's human is trying to play with her by dangling a bone on a string or ribbon.  But I could be wrong.  What I am sure of is that the poodle will have none of it.

This piece is FULL of surprising color and rich textures and lovely details.  I am thrilled with this painting.  And not just because I am a devoted poodle fan.  This painting is one of those pieces that makes me smile every time I see it.

I hope Not a Toy brings humor and richness and joy to the home of some fellow dog lover out there.

On a personal note:  My best friend for many many years was a poodle.  She has since passed on, but I feel her in this piece.  She never knew she was a poodle.  She believed she was a wolf.  Or at least a mastiff.  And thankfully she never heard the term Toy Poodle.  I am sure she would have taken offense at the very notion.  So while I titled this piece in reference to the bone not being a toy, I also like the suggestion that dogs of any size are not toys either.

HOW THIS PAINTING WAS MADE:  I used palette knives and tiny detail brushes to realize the charming focused poodle and her bone on a string.

DISPLAY OPTIONS:  This piece could be easily and affordably framed as it requires no matting or glass.  Or it would also display nicely sitting on a small decorative easel or stand just as it is, no framing needed.  I will include a small plastic stand for free if you request one at the time of payment.

I am not amused by your shenanigans.
