Title:  Non-Wagger

Completed in:  2008

Size:  4" x 6"

Materials:  Acrylic on gallery stretched canvas

The words read:  Turtles do not wag their tails.

Nope.

(Enlarged to show details.)

(The painting continues around the staple-free sides.  This is a digital photo.  The scans above are more accurate.)

MY REACTION:  Turtles have integrity.  They cannot be rushed.  And they do not care what you think.

This is a lush piece.  Really rich with washes of deep color.

CONTENT:  I have always been a tail wagger.  I like to show my happiness and to make others happy.  But I think this turtle is visiting to remind me (and maybe you, too?) that it is okay not to wag, too.  To enjoy life quietly inside.

ARTISTIC CONCERNS:  This is a traditional brush painting with lots of loose expressive brush work and soft washes built up over many layers.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:  This piece is on a gallery stretched canvas with staple-free sides.  Non-Wagger would display nicely unframed either directly on the wall or on a small display stand.

Turtles do not wag their tails.

Nope.
