I
am not sure what to write about this piece. It makes me smile.
It makes me feel good. The colors are light and lovely and the
whole piece feels like Angel food cake. The characters here
are so expressive. And the paint is layered gently with lots
of organic edges. It is a beautiful elegant image. I
hope it makes you smile, too. How Opposites was created... The sides and edges of this piece are textured with fine artist stucco. Then I created the image using palette knives and brushes. I layered colors over the course of several days. And I painted the birds with tiny 18/0 detail brushes.
(The image and textures continue around the sides so you can display your new artwork unframed. This is a digital photo, the scans above are more accurate.) Opposites was painted on a 4" x 6" stretched canvas. The sides of this piece DO have staples but they are covered by layers of texture and color and do not detract from the painting. This piece looks lovely displayed as it is without framing either directly on the wall or on a small decorative easel or stand. Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no matting or glass.
