MY REACTION: Ooh this one is really exciting for me. Challenging. A little uncomfortable. Bolder than I might usually be. But that is often the case here at my new home. In my new studio. I feel like taking risks here. I love the sentiment in this piece, too. CONTENT: I really believe we are in the midst of a giant cultural shift. One we will not truly understand for generations. A move from mechanical man made scientific knowledge to spiritual emotional intuitive experiences. I think cultures have moved between intellect and emotion or experience many times in human history but I think this last swing into brain-land has been SO extreme that history is making the necessary balancing counter-swing now. To a time of heart and drama and mystery. With lots of irregular edges. Many of us know the word "organic" as it pertains to produce, but the word has an older broader meaning that includes anything of or from or like a living organism. ARTISTIC CONCERNS: I love to create organic layers of texture and color. Stuff that feels like nature. Stuff that feels like it took a long time for it to get so complex. But also feels like all the elements have blended and become a cohesive whole over time. This composition is especially raw and wild. WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW: This piece is on a deep gallery stretched canvas with staple-free sides. Organic would display nicely unframed either directly on the wall or on a small display stand.
