This painting feels like a poem to me. Or an old story that has been retold in a modern setting. I cannot explain the content any better than that. All I can say is that it is a lovely elegant piece to view in person and I am thrilled with this one. I am that boat. Adrift in a vast and humbling sea. And I suspect I am not the only one out here. The words in this piece read: Humbling insignificance. How Out to Sea was created..... I used palette knives, wide soft brushes, a soft cloth, and a tiny 18/0 spotter brush to create this unusual piece.
(The sides are painted so you can display your new artwork unframed if you like. This is a digital photo. The detailed scans are more accurate.) Out to Sea was painted on a wooden board created specifically for use by artists. It has a recessed slot in the back allowing you to hang it flush with the wall. The sides of the board have been painted as well so that this piece would look wonderful displayed unframed either directly on the wall or on a small, decorative table-top easel. This piece also sits nicely on edge and could be displayed that way on a desk or bookshelf.
