ABOUT THIS PIECE:  This was sketched from observation while I was standing out in a light rain.  I finished it in my nice dry studio, though.  It is a small lake in a place called Lino Lakes, Minnesota.  I hope to be working out in nature more often this summer, so watch for more neat atmospheric landscapes and maybe some botanical stuff, too.

I like the stillness here.  The serenity.  It was really cool when fish jumped while I was sketching, too!

HOW IT WAS MADE:  I have been working in oil pastels for many years now and have learned different techniques for layering colors.  Each piece takes me a minimum of several hours and lots of elbow grease, but I absolutely love the results.  Oil pastels are one of my favorite media to work in.

DISPLAY OPTIONS:  This image was created on white acid-free mat board.  It is sprayed with fixative, but the surface is still very fragile.  You will want to frame your new drawing to protect your investment.  To frame your artwork affordably, you can buy a ready-made frame at your local home or discount store and then bring the frame with the drawing to a custom-framer.  The framer can mat the piece to fit the frame.
