This beautiful piece makes me so happy. This is a nice image to have around. It brings good feelings and sweet dreams. Protection is the first in a series of Angel paintings that I will be working on in 2005. I expect the series will span a wide range of materials, techniques, sizes, etc. And I am thrilled to open the series with such a detailed image of hope and comfort. This piece has rich subtle hues; strong clean lines; and a pretty subject that shines.

I would like for this painting to bless your home or office with warmth and comfort. To remind those who view it that we are born forgiven and we are always loved. We are always safe. Angels and kind spirits watch over us all.

How Protection was created..... After the black acrylic primer dried, I used palette knives to apply a thin layer of acrylic modeling paste mixed with natural sand all along the sides and edges of the canvas. I left a central "window" on the front of the canvas free of all texture. Once that layer dried, I used wide soft brushes to apply many transparent and translucent layers of color. Warm ochre and olive and bright Kelly green. And soft pale yellow and rich sky blue and thin lines of dark green and brown. Finally, I used tiny detail brushes to paint the lovely Angel scene and the words.

Protection was painted on a professional quality gallery-wrapped canvas with deep 1.5" sides. This piece would look wonderful displayed unframed directly on the wall. Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it required no matting or glass. It is also quite stable sitting on edge and can be displayed that way as well.
