Buffalo often appear in Native American spiritual traditions as symbols of selfless giving.  Because buffalo gave themselves to help humans survive even in difficult climates.  And people used buffalo's body for everything from food and clothing to shelter and tools.  I think there are more buffalo people in the world today than we realize.  The news always shows us those folks who act selfishly or with cruelty, but I think there are a whole lot of selfless, strong, survivors in this world who do the right thing and care for those around them.  This sunny expressive painting celebrated those folks who do that hard work without seeking attention or rewards.

The words in this piece read:  I am strong.  I do what must be done.

How Provider was created.....   This lovely warm painting has texture gel on the "ends" and was painted with brushes and palette knives.  I used a dental tool to scratch a few lines around the "window" for emphasis.

(The image continues around the sides so you can display this painting unframed if you like.  This is a digital photo.  The scans above are more accurate.)

Provider was painted on a heavy hard wooden board and it has a sawtooth hanger attached to the back for hanging. The sides of the board have been painted so this piece would look wonderful displayed unframed either directly on the wall or on a small, decorative table-top easel.  This piece also sits nicely on edge and could be displayed that way on a desk or bookshelf.  PLEASE NOTE:  Because this board is a really hard surface, the painting was delicate and could have been easily scratched.  I applied two light coats of gloss varnish to this piece to protect it.

I am strong.

I do what must be done.
