Crayola crayon on acid-free mat board

I pulled to the side of a busy road to make this drawing. The scene was just breathtaking and I had to stop. Cars kept whizzing by and scaring the bejezuz out of me. But I kept working. A nice old farmer man in a giant ancient Lincoln stopped to make sure I was okay. I do love Minnesotans. Nice people. I love the land here, too. It fills me up. This was a gorgeous sunny fall day. The crops had yellowed. My favorite time to view farmland. And that red red barn in the distance. It does my spirit good to see red barns in the distance. All is still right with the world so long as there are rolling yellow fields and blue skies and a red barn in the distance. How this drawing was created..... I used a 96 color box of Crayola crayons to create this glorious Minnesota landscape. Crayola crayon drawings are very labor intensive and sadly I cannot find the time to work in this media very often anymore. I regret that because crayons allow for a dreamy kind of color that is unique and offers universal appeal. Everyone loves crayons! The colors in this drawing were layered and layered and layered to reach this luminous state of "stained-glass-like" warmth. After I finish working on crayon pieces, my hands ache for a couple of days from the intense pressure I have to apply to get these colors. This piece was created on an acid-free white mat board. You will want to frame this piece to protect your investment. One affordable way to frame this unique drawing would be to purchase a standard-sized frame at your local home store and then bring the frame and the drawing together to a custom-framer. Ask the framer to mat the drawing to fit the frame. |
