I love this scene.  Any time I head to the country it is because I need to see this scene.  There are still places where people work the land and live in concert with Nature.  That gives me hope.  Vast spans of land give me hope.  I live in an urban area with about 2 million people.  It is easy for me to get scared here.  To lose my center.  But out in farm country, all I need is a red barn on the horizon to remind me that all is not lost.  The sun will rise tomorrow and the cows will moo and the pigs will poop and all will be well.

How Red Barn was created.....   I sketched this scene from the side of the road using a fine-tipped black pen.  There was someone out working a nearby field and I am sure he wondered what I was up to.  Later, I used colored inks to flesh the drawing out.  And then I layered oil-pastels atop the ink to add depth and weight.

Red Barn was drawn on acid-free, heavy, white watercolor paper.  You will want to frame this lovely drawing to protect your investment.  One affordable means of framing is to purchase a standard-sized frame at your local home store and then bring the frame and the artwork together to a custom-framer.  Ask the framer to mat the art to fit the frame.
