ABOUT THIS PIECE:  When I began this piece, it appeared to me to be the eye of a dragon.  Then, as the work unfolded, it reminded me of that green movie star, Shrek.  Now that the painting is complete, I see the eye of a dinosaur.  Looking back through time.  I am not sure why it appears that way to me.  If you see something different, that is just fine with me.  But I see a timeless eye.  An ancient eye.  It comforts me somehow.  It gives me a sense of perspective.  I like having this painting around.

The textures in here are lovely!  Very reptilian.  And the greens are richly varied.

HOW IT WAS MADE:  First, the board was primed with gesso and then covered in textured ceiling paint.  Once that dried, I painted the entire surface in deep shades of blue and purple.  When that underpainting was complete, I used a variety of brushes to create the finished image you see here.
