Rorschach #3

Completed in 2007

4" x 6" x 1.5"

Acrylic paint on a deep gallery-stretched canvas

The words read:  She saw the end of the world.  I saw a bunny.

(Enlarged to show detail.)

ABOUT THIS PIECE:  I have begun a wonderful new series of abstract paintings that are loose and bold and experiential.  All about paint and color and emotion.  Less conscious than my usual work.  And like Rorschach ink blots, they hold limitless stories so each viewer can find their own path through.  Like clouds, too!

This is one of my favorite paintings in a long time.  This piece makes me very very happy and I am hopeful it will spice up the home of some other unusual observer out there.

Here is the Rorschach series so far...

HOW IT WAS MADE:  This piece has equal parts brush painting and palette knife painting.  I used a teeny tiny 20/0 detail brush to add the words.

(The deep staple-free sides have been painted so you can display your new artwork unframed.  This is a digital photo, the scans above are more accurate.)

DISPLAY OPTIONS:  This piece could be easily and affordably framed as it requires no matting or glass.  Or it would also display nicely either on the wall or sitting on a small decorative easel just as it is, no framing needed.  The image continues around the staple-free sides for a clean finished look.  This piece is quite stable sitting on edge and could be displayed on a shelf or desk or tabletop that way as well.

She saw the end of the world.

I saw a bunny.
