ABOUT THIS PIECE:  I have begun a wonderful new series of abstract paintings that are loose and bold and experiential.  All about paint and color and emotion.  Less conscious than my usual work.  And like Rorschach ink blots, they hold limitless stories so each viewer can find their own path through.  Like clouds, too!

I am so surprised by the reaction I am getting to this series.  Folks love to tell me what they see in these.  It is almost as if people are hungry for a chance to find their own visions.  To see things that are not already pre-defined.  To see without being told what to see.  I am not sure if that make sense, but I am really enjoying these Rorschach pieces.  It is HARD for me to not impose my own visions on them, to allow them to remain undefined all the way to the end.  But I love it.

Ooh the colors in this one are so fabulous to me.  I had so much fun painting this piece.  It is a treat to work abstractly in this way.  To focus on the interplay of colors and the application of paint.  And then to find the content after the fact.  To me, this piece is a self-important amoeba and it reminds me how silly we humans can be rushing about as if we are the only living things with work to do.  As if the world would end if we stopped designing widgets or selling gadgets or marketing random stuff for even one moment.  This painting makes me happy.  Reminds me to slow down.

Here are the other pieces in the Rorschach series so far...

HOW IT WAS MADE:  This is a traditional brush painting.

(The staple-free sides have been painted so you can display your new artwork unframed.  This is a digital photo, the scans above are more accurate.  *** This photo was taken before I added the briefcase.)

DISPLAY OPTIONS:  This piece could be easily and affordably framed as it requires no matting or glass.  Or it would also display nicely either on the wall or sitting on a small decorative easel just as it is, no framing needed.  The image continues around the staple-free sides for a clean finished look.

I am very busy.
