The layered hues in this piece are very rich. And the whole drawing has this wonderful sense of purposeful action. This is one of my favorite new pieces and I am hoping it will bring you comfort and inspiration. How Ready Set Go was created..... First, I used artists markers filled with colored India ink to create a vivid underpainting. The background was dark red, the arrows were orange and the heart was green. Then I used oil pastels to layer luscious color atop that base. After I completed all of the color work, I used a dental tool to scratch through to the ink below in order to create the crisp outlines. Ready Set Go was drawn on acid-free white mat board. You will want to frame this lovely drawing to protect your investment. One affordable means of framing is to purchase a standard-sized frame at your local home store and then bring the frame and the artwork together to a custom-framer. Ask the framer to mat the art to fit the frame.
