MY REACTION:  This is such an exciting piece for me.  So bold and free and fun.  So open.  I am thrilled with this one.  It energizes me every time I see it.

CONTENT:  In this complicated dangerous world where our flaws and insecurities are endlessly exploited on TV and our hormones and worst appetites are played up in movies and music, what could be harder or more rebellious than to remain sweet?  To stay kind and hopeful.  Innocence.  Happy flowers and hearts.  They are not just symbols of goodness, they are radical expressions of hope in a culture of cynics and pessimists.  I love this painting!  And I hope it inspires other wildly sweet girls out there to stay strong.

ARTISTIC CONCERNS:  I used brushes, palette knives, and my fingers to create this beautiful expressive piece.  The lines of the flower were first drawn on the canvas in ink.  The words, "Sweet girl", were etched in the surface with a dental tool and retraced after each layer of paint.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:  This piece is on a rigid canvas panel.  It can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no matting or glass.  It could also be displayed unframed on a small display easel.

I will protect them.

Sweet girl.
