I love this piece! This shape is so exciting to me. And the softness and the sense of quiet. And the snow! I miss snow. One of the most magical things about snow is the way it muffles sound. When snow is falling hard, you discover a silence more beautiful then any noise ever. Like Angels resting. Even in the city, snow quiets life and brings a sense of peace. Everything glows fresh and new with a clean coating of snow, too. This is a gorgeous unique painting and I hope it brings a bit of Winter serenity to your home all year round. The words in this piece read: Beauty and magic fall silently from above. How Snow was created..... I used palette knives to create the vivid underpainting and the organic textures. Then I used wide soft brushes to create the broad areas of color that fade gently. I used smaller brushes to paint the detailed areas and also to paint specific dots of snow in varying subtle colors. Then I used a large brush to "flick" droplets of thinned paint onto the wood for additional snowflakes. AND I used a giant stippling brush to create the whirling clouds of tiny snowflakes. Finally, I used 18/0 detail brushes to paint the words and the finest details.
(The sides are painted so you can display your new artwork unframed if you like. This is a digital photo. The detailed scans are more accurate.) Snow was painted on a wooden board created specifically for use by artists. It has a recessed slot in the back allowing you to hang it flush with the wall. The sides of the board have been painted as well so that this piece would look wonderful displayed unframed directly on the wall.
