Title:  3 Potatoes (Sketchy Thoughts Series)

Completed in:  2008

Size:  5.75" x 8.75"

Materials:  Graphite and Ink on heavy white paper (Bristol board)

The words read:  Someone told me that a potato will turn green when exposed to light.  And a green potato is poisonous.  This sounds unlikely to me, but I would hate to die from potato poison, so I keep mine in a dark drawer.

I reached in the drawer for a potato that I bought just days before.  I assumed it was safe.  I was wrong.  Vile stench.  Rotten potato slime on my hand.  Awful putrid let down.

Baked potato.  Fluffy wholesome comfort.  Perfect food.

The threat of spoiled potato shock makes a good potato even better.

MY REACTION:  I have a lot of visual clutter that fills up my overactive mind.  This series is one way of making room in my odd little brain for more necessary thoughts, like where I put my keys and when I have to take the dogs to the groomer and stuff like that.

CONTENT:  Appreciating goodness.

ARTISTIC CONCERNS:  I sketched this loosely in graphite first and then finished it in ink.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:  This piece will need to be matted and framed if you want to protect your investment.  I think these Sketchy Thoughts pieces would frame up beautifully with simple white mats and slim matte black frames.
