MY REACTION: I have a lot of visual clutter that fills up my overactive mind. This series is one way of making room in my odd little brain for more necessary thoughts, like where I put my keys and when I have to take the dogs to the groomer and stuff like that. CONTENT: I love this piece! This is how my appetites work. THE WORDS IN THIS PIECE READ: Carrots! I love carrots. Please can I have some carrots? Many many carrots. All for me. Yum, yum. Carrots sound real good to me. Carrots always hit the spot. I would love some carrots, thank you. Carrots for me! And carrots for you, too. I will share them. Would you like some carrots, too? Hey! You have thumbs! You could go to the store and buy us carrots. You could plant a garden and grow us some carrots. What are you waiting for? Let's have some carrots! ARTISTIC CONCERNS: I sketched out four different boxed "frames" for the rest of this series and had those frames photocopied onto heavy white paper. Copier inks do not smear like India ink, so by having the framework copied it allows me to use my art inks more freely. The copied part is just the black lines that form boxes. Everything else is hand inked. WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW: This piece will need to be matted and framed if you want to protect your investment. I think these Sketchy Thoughts pieces would frame up beautifully with simple white mats and slim matte black frames.
