Title:  Time (Sketchy Thoughts Series)

Completed in:  2008

Size:  4" x 6"

Materials:  Ink on heavy white paper

The words read:  How do you spend your time?

(Enlarged to show details.)

MY REACTION:  I have a lot of visual clutter that fills up my overactive mind.  This series is one way of making room in my odd little brain for more necessary thoughts, like where I put my keys and when I have to take the dogs to the groomer and stuff like that.

CONTENT:  We know how we spend our money.  More or less.  But too often we throw our time away on stuff that has no value.  This piece is just a moment to pause and ask that important question.

ARTISTIC CONCERNS:  I sketched out four different boxed "frames" for the rest of this series and had those frames photocopied onto heavy white paper.  Copier inks do not smear like India ink, so by having the framework copied it allows me to use my art inks more freely.  The copied part is just the black lines that form boxes.  Everything else is hand inked.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:  This piece will need to be matted and framed if you want to protect your investment.  I think these Sketchy Thoughts pieces would frame up beautifully with simple white mats and slim matte black frames.
