This is a fun expressive drawing of friendship and helping others. This piece makes me feel good each time I see it. How this drawing was created..... First, I used artists markers filled with colored India ink to create a vivid underpainting. Then I used oil pastels to layer luscious colors atop that base. Oil pastels are a bit tricky to work with. Some colors cover others, some remove the layer below them, and some mix with the colors below. So it takes lots of experience to learn the ins and outs of layering oil pastel colors. After I completed all of the color work, I used a dental tool to scratch through to the ink below in order to create sharper edges. Staying Dry was drawn on acid-free white mat board. You will want to frame this happy piece to protect your investment. One affordable means of framing is to purchase a standard-sized frame at your local home store and then bring the frame and the artwork together to a custom-framer. Ask the framer to mat the art to fit the frame. |
