Oil pastel on acid-free mat board

(Enlarged to show details)

ABOUT THIS PIECE I don't think I can write much about this one.  It feels too close.  It feels like me.  The woman does not look like me.  But her feelings look like my feelings.  This drawing makes me ache a little.  In a good way.

I do not usually attempt a lot of detail with oil pastels.  They are kind of blunt instruments.  But the details in this one came so easily for me.  She almost drew herself.  Doesn't she feel like a real woman?  Like someone you know?

I hope this piece touches some special sensitive soul out there.  I am with you.

HOW IT WAS MADE:  I have been working in oil pastels for many years now and have learned different techniques for layering colors.  Each piece takes hand cramping concentration and lots of elbow grease, but I absolutely love the results.  Oil pastels are one of my favorite media to work in.

DISPLAY OPTIONS:  This image was created on white acid-free mat board.  It is sprayed with fixative, but the surface is still very fragile.  You will want to frame your new drawing to protect your investment.  To frame your artwork affordably, you can buy a ready-made frame at your local home or discount store and then bring the frame with the drawing to a custom-framer.  The framer can mat the piece to fit the frame.
