I
pulled over on a dirt road and created this piece from life.
The stillness and the bird sounds and that crazy Fall light held me
there. My heart lives in quiet places like this. How Still Water was created..... First, I sketched this out in ink. Next, I used a 96 color box of Crayola crayons to add those lovely early Fall colors. Crayola crayon drawings are very labor intensive and sadly I cannot find the time to work in this media very often anymore. I regret that because crayons allow for a dreamy kind of color that is unique and offers universal appeal. Everyone loves crayons! The colors in this drawing were layered and layered and layered to reach this luminous state of "stained-glass-like" warmth. After I finish working on crayon pieces, my hands ache for a couple of days from the intense pressure I have to apply to get these colors. Still Water was drawn on a piece of acid-free white watercolor paper. You will want to frame this piece to protect your investment. One affordable way to frame this unique drawing would be to purchase a standard-sized 11" x 14" frame at your local home store and then bring the frame and the drawing together to a custom-framer. Ask the framer to mat the drawing to fit the frame.
