Tiny Art #537

Completed in 2007

2" x 3"

Acrylic and ink on acid-free mat board

The word reads:  Subtle magic.

(Enlarged to show details.  This piece is lightly textured.  The painting goes up to and around the edges of the mat board.  If you plan to display this on a small stand without framing it, you can request a coat of varnish for protection.  Otherwise this will ship as it is, unvarnished, ready for framing.)

ABOUT THIS PIECE:  Odd friends.  These two with similar markings.  They found they had more in common than the obvious.  In this scene they are napping together on a quiet afternoon.

This piece could be ordered with a heavy coat of gloss varnish which will protect it from most everything but water.  Then you could display it on a small display stand or little easel without framing.  Or it could be sent unvarnished and you could have it matted and framed.

ABOUT THIS SERIES:  I bought a set of three tiny paintings about 10 years ago and I have been passionate about tiny art ever since. I love the intimacy of holding a work of art in the palm of my hand. I love how tiny art draws you in, begging to be studied. Whispering its story quietly to one viewer at a time. There is just something magical about tiny art.

Beginning in Summer 2004, I am creating a series of 1,000 unique miniature paintings, drawings, and sculptures. Each piece in the series will be numbered, signed and dated.

The subject matter of these new pieces will run the gamut, but I do expect to see all of my common themes appearing in miniature. Hopefully, I will discover some new directions as well. The only parameters that I have set are maximum dimensions of 3.5” square.

THE PROCESS:  Each of these pieces is a unique, hand-made, original work of art. As with my traditional work, I pay very close attention to composition, color use, line quality and lighting. I have not compromised my commitment to quality in any way. I have simply traded my usual brushes and tools for really teeny ones and I am using some magnifying aids to keep me from going blind.

DISPLAY OPTIONS:  This painting looks wonderful shown alone or in a grouping of similar pieces.

You might want to frame your new artwork to protect your investment. One affordable way to frame these unique pieces would be to purchase standard-sized frames at your local home store and then bring the frames and the artwork together to a custom-framer. Ask the framer to mat the art to fit the frame. These pieces would look lovely with a neutral mat and a low-profile frame.

This painting also looks nice on a small display stand.

This artwork will arrive protected with waxed paper and sandwiched between sheets of sturdy cardboard.
