This painting is soothing and comforting.  Like a gentle rain or sweet sherbet.  It is kind of hypnotic, too.  My eye is always drawn to this one.  I think it has something to do with how the unusual blues and greens and purples bounce off one another.  And I love that little flower.  The Light is a unique little gem with layers of texture and color and emotion.  And it also contains the words, "Towards the light."

I would like for this sunny hopeful abstract landscape to bring a bit of Spring growth to inspire you.

How The Light was created.....   After priming the canvas with black acrylic gesso, I used palette knives to create a wild expressionist painting filled with bright colors and natural textures.  Then I used an ice-scraper to remove the colors and textures from a small "window" and allowed everything to dry.  Next I used soft brushes to layer smooth color throughout this piece.  There are very small amounts of iridescent blue peaking through in key areas to add just a bit of shimmering fun.   I used tiny detail brushes to paint the flower and her sunny bit of grass and her warm sky.  And to add the words.  And to add the small green arrow that spices up that cool field of lavender.

(The deep 1.5" staple-free sides have been painted warm teal green.  This is a digital photo.  The scans above are more accurate.)

The Light was painted on a professional quality gallery-wrapped canvas with deep 1.5" sides.  This piece would look wonderful displayed unframed either directly on the wall or on a small, decorative table-top easel. It is also very stable standing on edge and can be displayed that way on a shelf or table.
