This is a lovely delicate little landscape. With a soft warm glow. A peaceful moment in nature. And I would like for this drawing to bring a bit of hope and inspiration to your walls. How Three was created..... Oil pastels are a bit tricky to work with. Some colors cover others, some remove the layer below them, and some mix with the colors below. So it takes lots of experience to learn the ins and outs of layering oil pastel colors. As I often do, I laid down a VERY bright underpainting. The sky was brilliant purple and the land was dark dark green. Then I used a straight-edged razor blade to strip that off, leaving behind colorful stains on the mat board. Next, I built up layers and layers and layers of lighter colors. Finally, I scratched the lighter colors off a few key areas and applied pure vibrant color directly on those hotspots. Three was drawn on acid-free white mat board. You will want to frame this lovely drawing to protect your investment. One affordable means of framing is to purchase a standard-sized frame at your local home store and then bring the frame and the artwork together to a custom-framer. Ask the framer to mat the art to fit the frame.
